Beck Technology Donates to Girls Who Code
Twenty-eight years ago, there were more women working in computer science than there are today. And that percentage keeps dropping. Girls Who Code is an organization that is working diligently to close the gender gap in technology.
As a preconstruction technology company that strives to make the world a better place through passion, innovation, and caring, we are proud to support Girls Who Code through our Beck Tech Cares program. Trevor Sakakini, Software Engineer IV at Beck Technology, chose Girls Who Code to receive this month’s donation.
Trevor says, “I’ve worked previously as a programming teacher to younger kids, and we did a lot of work with schools that were less funded and didn’t have computer classes—so many kids loved being introduced to coding and Girls Who Code is a great organization that helps promotes just that!”
Girls Who Code service 500,000 girls, women, and nonbinary individuals through their in-person programs, reach 14 billion engagements around the world through their online resources and advocacy work, and have over 8,500 programs globally. Their programs include clubs for girls in grades 3-12, college and career programs from women ages 18-25, and summer programs for high schoolers.
“We're reaching girls around the world and are on track to close the gender gap in new entry-level tech jobs by 2030,” and “Girls Who Code is on a mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does,” writes Girls Who Code.

About Beck Tech Cares
Our Beck Tech Cares program is a way for us to further embody our culture and embrace our core values. The purpose of Beck Tech Cares is to come together and celebrate what makes Beck Tech so great: the people! Through one of our task management tools, we can give virtual high fives to each other to recognize when a peer has demonstrated one of our core values of passion, innovation, and caring.
At the end of every month, we hold a virtual luncheon and read each of these high fives. At the end of the meeting, we announce that the month’s winner who gets to pick which charitable organization receives a donation.
Though we don’t build the buildings that make the world a better place, we help and support the teams that do. Our Beck Tech Cares initiative is an extension of that help and support to not only improve the lives of our local communities, but also on a global scale.
