Excellence and Vision Awards Given at Customer Appreciation Event

Beck Technology announced today the honorees receiving the company’s Excellence and Vision Awards, based on their involvement and advancement in the future of preconstruction technology.

The Excellence award is presented to an individual in the construction industry who embodies the innovator’s spirit—someone who has sought out new ways of tackling preconstruction problems, provided solutions to challenges, and continues to bring fresh ideas to the industry. This year, Beck Technology has honored Andy Gerlach with the award.

Gerlach is a preconstruction professional based in Newport Beach, California, and has collaborated with Beck Technology since 2012. He is involved with Beck Technology’s Industry Advisory Board, which has been the hub for generating new ideas and features for the company’s technology offerings. Gerlach’s expert insight has helped Beck Technology develop key features such as 3D takeoff, reporting, bid leveling, historical costing, team estimating, comparison, and dashboards within DESTINI Estimator.

“I was very fortunate to be introduced to Beck Technology at the start of my preconstruction career,” said Gerlach. “That initial experience opened my eyes to the future of the industry and Beck Technology has been a true partner on the march towards that future. Kudos to the Beck Technology team for their continued success in raising the bar for the preconstruction industry one software release at a time. I can’t wait to see what’s next!”

The Vision Award is presented to a company that seeks out innovation and acted upon its ideas to help make the connection between today’s construction industry and future ideals. These companies see areas in which the industry is lacking and actively search for solutions to issues, rather than waiting on someone else to provide answers. Vision award recipients are pioneers within the preconstruction industry. The Vision award recipient for 2019 is Balfour Beatty.

Balfour Beatty has been a customer of Beck Technology since 2008 and was one of the first enterprise-wide implementers of DESTINI Estimator. Its core group of preconstruction professionals has been instrumental in rolling out the software across their company. Balfour Beatty has consistently provided feedback on DESTINI Estimator and how it can be improved for the industry, as well as working closely with Beck Technology’s development team to test out new features.

“We deployed DESTINI Estimator to help support our company’s growth by standardizing to one estimating platform across our seven divisions nationwide,” said Kasey Bevans, Chief Information Officer for Balfour Beatty in the United States. “Since going live in 2017, Beck Technology has been a good partner and the platform has provided our teams tighter risk management controls, efficient data sharing, uniform reporting and workflows, advanced model-based estimating and standardized estimating procedures. Having all of these capabilities rolled into one solution has improved our operational efficiency and reduced cost by eliminating other technology investments.”

“Presenting the Excellence and Vision awards reiterates how much Beck Technology values collaboration from our customers and the industry,” said Stewart Carroll, President of Beck Technology. “I know our honorees have a multitude of responsibilities and the fact that they take the time to share ideas and test out new features is a testament to all of us working together to revolutionize the construction industry.”
