In over 30 years of partnering with Kansas school districts, Hutton observed that successful bond campaigns require more than hope—they demand a strategic approach. Hutton shared their approach to assisting schools to get their bond programs right. To engage the community effectively, districts should start early by identifying their purpose and recruiting influential supporters. Understanding the “why” behind the initiative and securing board support are crucial steps. Additionally, community-based influencers play a vital role in building trust and countering misinformation. By educating these supporters and cultivating engagement, districts can enhance their chances of passing bond elections.
