Why Do We Need to Change?

Our annual workshop will share who, what, and how leading firms thrive

What is driving changes in the architecture, engineering, and construction industry?  Construction professionals are tasked to do more with less, including mitigating risks and delivering accurate real-time data.

Beck Technology will host a workshop on Monday, May 22 as part of the Advancing Building Estimation 2017 Conference in Houston (formerly named Estimating Technology for Construction). Our half-day event will discuss:

  • Why we need to change,
  • What change looks like,
  • How change is best implemented, and
  • Who is spearheading the effort.

This discussion about preconstruction and construction changes will be led by industry experts, including Ray Miller, VP Preconstruction at Balfour Beatty Construction Services US; Andy Leek, Director of VDC at Paric Corporation; and Brent Pilgrim, DESTINI Application Director at The Beck Group; along with Beck Technology’s COO Stewart Carroll and CTO Michael Boren.

Ray will discuss why the industry is changing and share the story of Balfour Beatty realizing change is needed to continue to grow, though implementing change can be difficult.  Andy and Brent will discuss how their companies are going through the process and share success stories as well as lessons learned.  Then, the speakers will lead the audience in discussions on how our industry will evolve and adjust to changes that are fast becoming the norm.

As all workshop attendees will bring experiences, best practices, and lessons learned from their organizations, the workshop format will include audience interaction and small group discussion breakouts. This half-day event will spur ideas, help avoid common pitfalls, and prepare attendees for the coming changes.

As a reminder, this workshop format replaces our stand-alone Beck Technology Roundtable this year. We hope our clients join us and find value with the option to participate in the workshop format along with a powerful estimating conference.
