How do I see total columns for Labor, Material, Sub, Equipment, and Other cost categories in the Estimate View?
This is answered by Brent Pilgrim, DESTINI applications manager of The Beck Group, and posted on our community.
For those that frequently work with LMSEO categories in their estimates, it is helpful to be able to view totals for these individual cost categories and at the line item (row) level of detail. This is in addition to the general “TOTAL” column for a given line item.
In order to do this, a user simply needs to create a few additional WBS Properties that are “formulaic” and add them to the estimate. NOTE: If this is a regular need for your organization, it is best to set this up in your Estimate Template, to save time.
Step 1: Go to the WBS Properties command on the Estimate ribbon.
Step 2: Select “Add WBS Property”
Step 3: Find the new WBS Property and change its name to something like “Equipment Cost Subtotal” and change the “Type” to “Formulaic” instead of “Text”.
Step 4: In the Formula field, create a simple formula that reads, “Equipment Cost * Quantity” (no quotes) and select OK.
Step 5: Repeat this for each of the desired LMSEO categories and then close the WBS Properties command by selecting OK.
Step 6: By default, these new columns will appear to the right of the last column. You can of course drag and drop these columns next to their corresponding cost categories such as Labor and Equipment if you like.
